Are You Transgender? ... Gender Questioning? ... Gender Queer?

"Transtopia" is a monthly group for transgender and gender questioning youth between the ages of 14 to 19. The group meets on a Tuedsday of each month and provides a safe, supporting space for young people to connect and be themselves.The group is an open group, and bookings are  NOT required unlike previous years and attendees can attend as many or as little meetings as they please.

Please be advised that transtopia is a group for young transgender, gender diverse and gender questioning youth only, family members and non-transgender freinds are not encouraged to attend .Transtopia is a monthly group held over 11 months for youth between the ages of 14 to 19 Transtopia aims to provide a safe space for young transpeople to connect with others, enjoy activities as well as talk about things impacting on their life in a safe and non- judgmental space

Outline of Transtopia topics for 2017

Feb 28th,         Getting to know your new friends through bonding games and open conversations

March 28th,     Lived experience of people who have lived in their identified gender for a large portion of their life and will feature a guest speaker Teddy Cook from ACON

April 18th,       Expressing your journey though writing within a workshop allowing the group to put together a story book based on their own experiences. 

May 30th,       Support, focusing on the importance of where to find support and assist in supporting your family through your transition and will feature a guest speaker Candy Jaques Gender     Centre Counsellor

June 27th,      Positive Transgender stories in the media, specifically we will watch a positive documentary on a young person’s journey and then discuss
July 25th,      Keeping healthy, focusing on eating and living a healthy life guest speaker James Lyons ............In house Nutritionist will be talking all things healthy
Aug 29th,       Expressing your journey through art therapy

Sep 26th,       Bullying and harassment, specifically how to deal with these issues by finding support and where we should go to keep safe and will feature a guest  speaker Nina Blundell Police   
                      Constable will be talking bullying solutions 

Oct 31st,
       Getting out there and having some fun in a group, we are lucky enough to have this month’s group fall on Halloween so we will be doing something spooky to mark the occasion            (more details to come soon)

Nov 28th,     Planning for next years transtopia

Dec19,         Saying goodbye to your new friends and having pizza
