As you know, with the last edition of Polare we sent out an evaluation. The best way to give you an idea of some of the feedback to this evaluation is to show you a selection of your responses.

It was a very big evaluation and to give you a full report would take up most of the pages in Polare. But thank you for your response, your input is vital to Polare's success. I hope you enjoy reading some of the responses.

What do you like most about Polare?

  • It's topical and recognises diversity;
  • Provides a forum for discussion;
  • It's community building;
  • It provides health and legal information;
  • It's informative;
  • It's well written and informative;
  • Good information;
  • It provides legal information and it's interesting;
  • Helps me to see that others are like me;
  • I like reading the letters and personal experiences;
  • I like the controversial articles, news updates and medical information;
  • That it exists;
  • Emphasis is on the positive aspects of life;
  • Provides varied information and is not gender specific;
  • I like reading personal experiences;
  • Reading other transgender experiences;
  • Gives me an insight into the rest of the transgender community;
  • It's good reading, interesting;
  • Provides a variety of views and opinions;
  • When it has "real world" issues;
  • I gain a better understanding of myself;

What do you like least about Polare?

  • Not enough hormone information;
  • The early issues focused too much on Kings Cross;
  • It is sometimes short on content;
  • Too Sydney orientated;
  • The whingeing letters;
  • Harps too much about sex;
  • Infrequency of publication;
  • Print type, photo quality, conformity to issues;
  • Decent into mysticism that equates tranys with shamans;
  • The assumption that I'm interested in William St;
  • Not enough hormone information;
  • Not always enough information for people living in the country;
  • Needle exchange ads;
  • There is nothing to dislike;
  • It's too short;
  • People who think they speak for everyone;
  • Could be bigger and more frequent;
  • Geared towards sex workers and I.V. drug users;
  • I am dismayed that there are so many prostitutes in the gender community;
  • Paper quality;
  • Front cover should be more to the point;
  • Inappropriate ads (prostate research);
  • Too much space given to Sydney scene and sleaze;
  • No particular dislikes;
  • Drug related issues;
  • Articles on malfunctioning private parts;
  • Needs more controversy;
  • Should be monthly;
  • Not enough female to male;
  • Very Sydney orientated;
  • Can't find anything yet; and
  • That all your neat stuff is thousands of miles from where I am.
