Hello everyone! Well it's that time again for the next issue of Polare ...
What's been happening at the centre?
We have now obtained our new property replacing our Ashfield house that we lost to the
R.T.A. in 2005 at present we are acquiring new furnishings for the
tenants.
We were very fortunate in obtaining two grants, one from the Aurora Group and one from Street Smart, to help with the furnishings. This
money has been a great help but we need more to complete the fit-out.
I met with Carmel Tebbutt, our local member to see if she could help in finding more money for us and she is endeavouring to do so, as
is Penny Sharpe from the Legislative Council.
I also meet with the Women's Housing Company requesting flexible referrals for F.T.M.
clients of the Gender Centre to be allocated pathways into our exit housing based on safety concerns and the increasing lack of housing
options.
I am pleased to say that we are now able to offer exit accommodation to the F.T.M.
community within the Gender Centre's exit programme. This is a first.
We have a new staff member, Vicky Nash. Vicky is at the Centre two days a week (Monday and Thursday) as the client support worker.
It is time again for the Gender Centre Annual General Meeting. This year it will be held at Petersham Town Hall in the Amenities Room.
28 September at 7.00pm.
