Hi all, this issue we have more details of the upcoming ball – Frolic 2004: A Gender Odyssey on October 14. This year's theme is a sort of Barbarella / Jetsons retro futuristic theme. The venue @Newtown (52 Enmore rd, Newtown) has a very retro futuristic feel so the theme suits well. @Newtown has disabled access and is close to the trans friendly Newtown station and bus lines. I'm hoping to see some costumes or quirky outfits, but the most important thing is for everyone to have fun. Tickets are on sale from the venue or Mosh Tix outlets in Bondi, Sydney City, Glebe, and Newtown. Tickets are $12.50 or $10 concession and there is a $2.50 booking fee at most places. Confirmed acts for the evening include Miranda Fair to M.C., Sveta to D.J. and performances from Minnie Copper, Vanity Faire, Michael Fox and yet unnamed drag king acts, light refreshments will also be served. On top of the entertainment the monster raffle is back on again with heaps of prizes generously donated by supporting businesses.

Also on our calendar this issue we have the upcoming make-up classes on Thursday evenings 9th, 16th and 23rd of September. The Spring Barbecue is on Sunday September 19 and always has a big turn out. In October we have a healthy eating, exercise and safe injecting workshop run by a personal trainer and registered nurse. I am sure there will be plenty of guys coming along to learn how to build up impressive muscles. If you have ever though about self-injecting hormones then this is a good opportunity to learn how. Needles, barrels and other safe injecting equipment will be available free on the day and can also be supplied free by contacting the outreach worker on 95692366.

On Saturday 20 November it's the annual International Day of Remembrance for murdered transgenders.

We are planning a memorial picnic in Victoria Park. We'll have a sausage sizzle (bags not lugging the barbecue!) and invite other agencies and advertise it through the usual media. We are going to make the day more public this time too. So we intend to run a large ad in the Sydney Morning Herald letting people know what the day means.

We will have a memorial service to those of our community who have been killed simply for being who they were. If anyone would like to contribute to the day, read a story or light a candle for someone, please let us know and we'll make sure you have the opportunity.
