The Ball this year has been widely regarded as a success and has set a new benchmark for our annual event Jai and I worked hard at organising and promoting the event across a range of media and reinventing the feel of the night, and our efforts seem to have paid off.

The Moulin Rouge venue, incongruous with its street setting in King's Cross, proved to be a safe and attractive space. It was well set up for our requirements and we had enough people there to fill it comfortably without crowding. The staff were polite and helpful, and looked great in their themed outfits.

Our performers were fantastic, ably presented and hosted by the fabulous Miranda Fair. Minnie Cooper (alternately cute and spectacular), the comical stylings of Michael Fox, and Cassandra's surprise number made the night very entertaining. The marathon raffle and door prize draw was a long process, (rescued from tedium by Miranda's inimitable wit) which ensured most people walked away with at least a little something. The major prize was won by Phinn, and lucky Shirley from the STG group scooped the pool with three separate prizes.

Everyone had a good time and we are looking forward to our next function which (with more time to prepare and list of improvements) promises to be bigger and better. We will try hard to make it a Friday or Saturday night so more people can come.

Thank you all who were involved in planning and presenting and to those who came along and for helping to make it a great night.
