Numbers for recent events have unfortunately been down on previous events despite the holding of the same old events like barbecues and
outings and some new and exciting events being organised. If you have any ideas on how to promote these events more than we do, or have any
interesting ideas for future events, please let me know.
Those who came to the Zoo on Friday May 23rd had a great day, the weather was nice and despite major renovations at the Zoo, all the
usual sights were seen. On Friday 20 June we're visiting Sydney Aquarium, riding on the monorail and lunching in Chinatown, so we hope to
see you at this event.
Organising is underway for this year's Trany Ball to be held on Thursday October 23rd. This year's event will be bigger and better than
ever, so please keep that date free.
This year I've managed to completely overhaul the Gender Centre website, which now features an enormous amount of useful information and
links to interesting sites. Old Polare magazines are being added when time permits, so if you've ever written an article for this magazine,
it may appear on the webpage unless I am otherwise instructed. At the time of writing the website has had over 7000 visitors from all
around the world. Also, if you have a website worth linking to, either a personal page or information site you've found useful, please
email me.
Polare is published in Australia by The Gender Centre
Inc. which is funded by the Department of Community Services under the
S.A.A.P. Program and supported by the
N.S.W. Health Department through the
AIDS and Infectious Diseases Branch. Polare provides a
forum for discussion and debate on gender issues. Advertisers are advised that all advertising is their responsibility under
the Trade Practices Act. Unsolicited contributions are welcome, though no guarantee is made by the Editor that they will be
published, nor any discussion entered into. The editor reserves the right to edit such contributions without notification.
Any submission which appears in Polare may be published on our internet site. Opinions expressed in this publication do not
necessarily reflect those of the Editor, The Gender Centre Inc.I, the
Department of Community Services or the N.S.W. Department of Health.
