Since the previous issue of Polare we have had a fairly small turnover of residents. We currently have four residents with several others
being assessed for residency. One resident has returned to the country life and one has moved to independent living in her own flat.
All residents enjoyed the festive season including the World AIDS
Day and Christmas parties at the Gender Centre. Unfortunately I had to celebrate those days plus Christmas day and New Year in hospital.
Many thanks for all the cards and enquiries. I am happy to report that the now bionic woman (metal hip) has been back since early January
and enjoying life to the fullest without the pain.
This year we have embarked on a programme of organised activities with our residents. We have at least three occasions a fortnight
including movies (we have already seen and thoroughly enjoyed Mrs. Doubtfire and Tombstone), picnics, sausage sizzles with pool parties at
the Gender Centre and a camping trip to the Central Coast (in conjunction with staff of the D4 Centre) has been arranged for late February.
A similar camping trip last year proved to be a great success. For upcoming months, we are also planning relaxation and stress management
exercises and other appropriate support group sessions.
